The job
An early-1900s villa that kept its character at the front and was completely reworked at the rear. From the street it is still a villa; from the back it is unrecognisable.
Past the original bedrooms and hall, three steps drop to an open-plan living area under a multi-faceted skylight, a black kitchen, and a sweeping deck. The ground level opens to a fully glassed outdoor room with a built-in bar and a sunken conversation pit, and stacker doors connect to a landscaped pool.
At Master Builders House of the Year 2018 it took Regional Gold and a place in the national Top 100.
