The job

A small home on Waiheke: two double bedrooms and an open-plan living space, wrapped in dark cedar that bookends the house and lines the living area.

Simplicity is the whole idea. A neutral palette, bi-fold doors that open the bedrooms and lounge to sweeping decks, and glazing north and south that pulls the sun and the bush straight in. A woodburner warms it in winter.

At Master Builders House of the Year 2016 it took Regional Category Winner, Regional Gold, and a place in the national Top 100.
